Rosa Louise McCauley Parks (Tuskegee, Alabama, February 4, 1913 - Detroit, Michigan, October 24, 2005), was an African-American activist, an important figure in the civil rights movement in the United States, especially for having refused to give up her seat to target and moving to the back of the bus in Montgomery, Alabama (United States), on December 1, 1955. For this action he ended up in prison, which is frequently cited as the spark of the movement, and is recognized as "the first lady of civil rights."
