Brief biography of Virginia Woolf (London, United Kingdom, 1882-Lewes, id., 1941).

Writer and feminist. She is considered one of the most prominent figures of literary modernism of the 20th century. His technique of interior monologue and his poetic style are considered two of the most important contributions to the modern novel. Her father, Leslie Stephen, was a philosopher and Virginia lived surrounded by intellectuals and free thinkers from her youth. From 1905 she lived with her sister, who was a painter, and her two brothers in the Bloomsbury neighborhood. She was part of the so-called Bloomsbury Group, which included the intellectual Leonard Woolf, who was her future husband. Between the two of them they founded the Hogarth publishing house, in which Virginia's works were published. In the 1970s, her work was rediscovered by the feminist movement, based on her essay A Room of One's Own , in which she exposed the difficulties that women have to establish themselves in the world of literature, a world dominated by men. Text : Alicia Rodríguez López.
